A horrible thing that sometimes happens while moving is finding out your TV was shattered. Here at Oil Capitol Relocation, we know it’s no fun to break your TV during the move. We know how hard it can be, so we decided to write up a few tips and tricks for packing up your TV.
In order to move your television, you’re going to
require a box that’s will work for moving your television. Using the box and packaging that it came in is a good idea – if you still have it. If you threw it out, you can buy a box specifically made for moving flat-screen TVs from a hardware store or a moving supply store. You should use a box that is just a little bit bigger than the TV, but not by a lot; you don’t want the TV to bounce around when it’s inside. Transporting fragile items requires

Before anything else, you should take a picture behind your television with all of the cords connected. This will make everything way easier when it’s time to reinstall everything. After taking a picture, get your TV ready to pack up. Unplug it and take out the power cord, then any other connecting cords. Place everything into a bag together and keep it with the box. There might be a base you need to separate from the television in order to pack it. When that’s the case, get all the parts in a reclosable bag and keep it with the TV so all the parts stay in one place.
Once you’re finished, you can get the TV all packed up. It doesn’t matter whether your new home is
far from Tulsa and Oklahoma City or you are just
moving locally, it’s important to make sure your television is well covered. You should use foam pieces to go over the TV screen, there will be some in your kit if you decided to buy one, or in the box that your TV came in originally if you still have that. The foam doesn’t just keep the screen protected, but it also will stop your television from shifting around in the box when you’re moving. You can secure the foam pieces using mover’s wrap or tape. Then use blankets or sheets to cover your entire television and prevent it from getting scratched.
After your TV is totally covered up it’s up to you to get it in the box! Keep the television upright when you do this, and get it secured by filling spaces with blankets. That way the TV won’t move and shift around in its box.
Finally, get the TV inside of the moving truck. Place the box upright and put it next to other smooth, sturdy items, like your mattress, dresser, or a bookshelf. Don’t forget to put important cables by the TV, in a bag taped to the side or in another box.
