Sidestep These Moving Disasters in 2020: Part 1

Moving to a new homeBy Julie DeLong, A-1 Freeman Moving Group

For most people, moving is simply not a good time. In truth, even the easiest of relocations may have a bit of tension.

However, if something goes terribly wrong on moving day, it is easy to feel as if your world is reaching an end. As opposed to having to endure this type of disaster, it's so much better to plan for many contingencies.

Below are some general moving day disasters, and the way it is possible to prevent them:

Your Furniture Doesn't Fit

When you finish driving for countless hours to Tulsa and Oklahoma City, you finally reach your new home... only to discover that you cannot push the couch through the door. That will be an enormous disappointment, and a huge cause of stress.

Solution: Check your big furniture pieces for all their proportions. Be sure to compare what you take note of with the measurements of your new home, plus your new residence's entryways.

Your Travel Arrangements Fall Through

If you hold off until the final instant to make travel arrangements (including hotel reservations for long distance moves, or plans for a pal or two that will help you transport your belongings) it's very possible that they will fall through, and you'll be left rushing.

Solution: Attempt to prepare your travel preparations a minimum of four weeks beforehand. Arrange alerts for yourself if you must.

Items are Ruined while in transit

It can be considered one of life's most disheartening encounters to finally get to your new residence, open up the moving truck's door... and find that lots of your loved belongings are decreased to broken parts spread throughout the boxes.

Solution: In most cases, inappropriate packing methods are the origin of problems incurred in transit. Employ suitable packing containers and cartons for each and every fragile thing that you are bringing. Make sure to use lots of bubble wrap, packing peanuts, or whatever else is required to secure and cushion your possessions during the move. Or, you could ask your professional mover in Tulsa and Oklahoma City for help packing items. The majority of moving companies will pack as much or as little as you'll need.

You Find Yourself Shelling out Much More than You Expected

Several days before the move, you discover that your bank account is likely to take a bigger hit than you initially assumed. The moving company in Tulsa and Oklahoma City is billing you a higher rate for their assistance.

Solution: A lot of moving companies do request higher rates for "last minute support." To obtain the best rates, don't put things off: book your move as far beforehand as is possible and always get a written quotation from the moving company in Tulsa and Oklahoma City you pick.

In Part 2 of the Moving Disasters blog articles, we will discuss more concerns that may throw a wrench into your moving plans and ways to steer clear of such troubles. Stay tuned for more!

Best. Move. Ever!
Very pleased with the overall respect and care the men gave to my possessions. Even mailing me very quickly the only thing lost in transit. Would recommend to anyone needing a long distant move.
